Q. What video services can I expect to use with Tata DOCOMO Mobile's 3G service?
A. All Tata DOCOMO mobile customers will be able to enjoy a host of video contents on their mobile phones. You just need to access the Tata DOCOMO portal to discover the wide range of content available to you depending on the mobile phone you are carrying and the network you are logged on to.
Q. What's the difference between video downloads and video streaming?
A. Video downloads enable you to download a video clip onto your phone which you can replay (and forward to friends) any time you wish as long as it is stored on your phone. Video downloads are also currently chargeable per video download.
Video streaming on the other hand enables you to view the video clip, or access "live" content directly (eg. NDTV and CNBC). Streaming lets you see the content immediately after a brief buffering period. You will be able to view the content but will not be able to forward it to someone else. To share the clip with some-one else Tata DOCOMO has introduced special "share" facilities.
Q. What video contents can I access on my 3G phone?
A. You can access a host of video contents with your 3G phone from live streaming of news to Bollywood entertainment video streaming clips. Categories include Beauty and Cooking and other Lifestyle options.
Q. I have a handset that supports video. Why am I not able to access the video clips on the Tata DOCOMO portal?
A. There could be three scenarios when it is mentioned that the handset supports video
- The handset is capable of recording video and playback.
- The handset is capable of receiving video downloads via MMS.
- The handset is capable of streaming videos.
You would need to have a handset which specifically states that it supports video streaming in order to access and stream the video clips from the Tata DOCOMO.
You also need to ensure that the handset has GPRS or packet data connectivity.
- If you are unable to stream, then you may have to change the settings of Real Player. Go to Real player > settings > access point > define Dive In APN.
- If you are not able to stream, you may also fetch RTSP Streaming settings by sending Video to 52270 (toll free) & save the settings.
Q. What videos will be available under the Videos On Demand category?
A. The top level menu will show the following options
- Music
- Movies
- Devotional
- Clips
- Lifestyle
- Beauties
- You Tube Channel
Q. How will I select one of these categories?
A. Category Selection is done either by placing the cursor over the option with the trackball and clicking on the option or by navigating with other keys on the handset in PS mode.
In CS mode these options are directly visible as number selections next to the option Example 1 will be next to the option Music.
Q. What happens when I select the Music Option?
A. When the Music option is selected the subscriber will see a list of sub-category options such as Bollywood, English, Indi-Pop and Regional. Within the Regional option several languages are available such as Panjabi, Marathi, Kanada etc. On selecting one of these options a next level menu is displayed: Most wanted, Daily Picks, Artist Zone etc. By following these menu options the subscriber will see a list of music videos as per his selection criteria.
Q. What happens when I select the Devotional Option?
A. When the Devotional option is selected the subscriber will see a list of sub-category options such as Most In Demand, Daily Picks, Videos Zone, Discourses By Gurus. On selecting one of these options a sub-category is displayed: God Of The Day, Hinduism, Islam etc.
Q. What happens when I select the Lifestyle option?
A. When the Lifestyle option is selected the subscriber will see a list of sub-category options such as Most Wanted, Daily Picks, Videos Zone. On selecting one of these options a sub-category is displayed: Health, Fashion, Trip Of The Day, Cookery.
Q. What happens when I select the YouTube Option?
A. With the YouTube option the subscriber can see the week’s most popular YouTube selections at the click of a button. These selections are updated on a weekly basis.
Q. What happens when I click the Favorites button?
A. The favorites button allows the subscriber to categorize a particular video as belonging to his favorites. When the subscriber goes into his MyZone List, these selected favorites are displayed.
Q. What happens when I click the Share button?
A. When the subscriber wants to share the video he is watching with his friends he selects the Share button. The subscriber is then able to enter the mobile number of another Tata DOCOMO user who he can send an SMS to with the URL of the video.
Q. What happens when I click the Search button?
A. When you click the Search button an input box is made available to the user which allows him to specify search criteria for a video. For example the subscriber could enter the key word "Hema" and all videos that have an association with the name "Hema" are displayed in a list.
Q. I have sent sms to fetch the link but have not received the same?
A. Dear Mr / Ms XXXX, there could be a temporary issue in fetching the link. You may try again. Alternatively you may access the same through 3G Dive-in portal.
